ALTERNATIVE TO A DRAIN AND REFILL IN TUCSON

Tucson Pool Water Recycling, located in Tucson, Arizona, is committed to preserving Arizona’s precious water by offering an alternative to the traditional drain and refill of a swimming pool. Our search for a solution to this wasteful practice led us to the Puripool™ Process engineered by Pure Water Industries.

The Puripool™ Process” allows us to provide a Water Wise solution for removing Calcium Hardness, Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), and Cyanuric Acid (CYA) from both residential and commercial swimming pools without draining or exposing the interior finish. As pool water evaporates and time passes, your relaxing, inviting swimming pool becomes more work to maintain and the water becomes less sanitary. The Puripool™ Process is a great alternative to a drain and refill and can be performed year round!

In less than a day, our Reverse Osmosis (RO) Mobile Filtration Trailer will come to your swimming pool and lower or remove the calcium, TDS, excess Stabilizer (CYA), phosphates, nitrates, and waterborne diseases. We will give you back a clean, healthy pool; all while conserving approximately 70% of your existing water. Your pool will be as pure as if you had filled it with bottled drinking water which will give you and your family the best water quality to swim in!

7 Benefits of the Puripool reverse Osmosis System

  • LOWERS CALCIUM HARDNESS
  • LOWERS TOTAL DISSOLVED SOLIDS (TDS)
  • LOWERS CYANURIC ACID (CYA)
  • LOWERS SALTS
  • LOWERS PHOSPHATES
  • REMOVES WATERBORNE DISEASES
  • WATER CONSERVATION

(CONSERVES APPROX. 70% OF THE EXISTING WATER IN THE SWIMMING POOL)

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Our mobile filtration trailer utilizes Reverse Osmosis (RO) to lower Calcium Hardness, Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), salts, phosphates, Cyanuric Acid (CYA) and other contaminates from the swimming pool. The trailers are completely self-contained and run on their own power. Two hoses come from the trailer and one is attached to a pump that takes water from your swimming pool into the mobile filtration trailer. The water is pre-treated before it contacts the RO membranes and then pure water is returned to the swimming pool. Depending on the initial TDS reading, we can predict how long the process will take to lower the TDS and calcium levels to below what can be obtained from your cities tap. There is no downtime during the process and the interior finish of the swimming pool is never exposed.

Currently, we are able to treat 40,000-gallons a day, to drinking water levels! Obviously, the size of your pool is the deciding factor on how long it will take based on this level. However, most residential swimming pools will take between 10 and 14 hours to complete and commercial pools take longer.

Absolutely! In fact, you can actually swim in the pool during the filtration process! There are no power cords or electricity in or near your pool, nor are they laying around for someone to trip on. An inch and a half hose with a Virginia Graeme Baker Act (VGBA) compliant fitting are placed in one end of the pool to draw the water back to the trailer for treatment and another inch and a half hose returns the clean (drinkable!) water back to your pool. That’s it! We are 100% self-contained and do not need to inconvenience you for electricity or extension cords or an outlet. All we need from you is a fresh water supply to replenish the small amount of water, approximately 30%, that is lost during the process. With that said, if you choose to swim it is completely safe!

As soon as your pool is first filled with Maricopa Counties tap water, it is often above the standards for pool water chemistry in Calcium Hardness (200 to 400 parts per million, or ppm) and continues to increase as you remove water by getting out of the pool, splashing or evaporation. To replenish this lost water, new water is constantly added and additional hard water is introduced; raising the concentration levels of this hard water (predominantly Calcium and Magnesium) and creating a higher level of these minerals. This level consistently increases, creating harder water that your chemicals can no longer do their job, dictating the need for higher chemical levels to keep the pool safe. Additionally, scale builds on your interior finish, the water tile line, pool filtration equipment, spillways, and water features which can lead to failure and expensive repairs! If you own a salt chlorinator the hard water can scale the electrode plates which prevents the system from working as well!

If scaling has occurred that is the best way to know your water is hard but it isn’t always visible to the naked eye. Your best chance of seeing it is if you turn on the lights for your swimming pool at night. Typically, at night you can see them floating around your pool! Trust us when we say if you haven’t changed out the water in your swimming pool in two or more years, it’s there!

  • Be sure to schedule on a non-garbage pickup day
  • Locate, expose and open up your sewer cleanout
  • Pool water must be clear, non-turbid, and without the presence of algae. The main drain on the bottom of the pool must be visible.
  • If you’ve recently cleaned your tile line with a soda blast process, you must wait 3 weeks before using our service to purify your pool

Even though the Puripool Reverse Osmosis (RO) System is capable of filtering and cleaning any condition of pool water to drinking water standards, we are not a pool filtering/maintenance company. It is the job of your pool equipment and/or pool service company to clear your water of suspended solids and algae.  Our service is strictly limited to the chemical purification of your pool and the removal of Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), viruses, bacteria, allergens, and waterborne diseases which your pool equipment is not capable of removing. As such, your pool water needs to be clear, non-turbid, and without the presence of algae.
